LEAK: Japanese naval vessel incident

The highest officials in the Japanese government expressed deep regret that the United States failed to consult Japan regarding its Joint Statement with the ROK and also failed to protect the Japanese vessel during the savage act of war by the DPRK navy in the Japanese Sea. The Japanese leadership has internally expressed its strong desire for increased U.S. security assurances in the region.
